Gulls Alumni Earns MVP of All-Star Futures Game
Published July 16th, 2026
The Sylvan Lake Gulls are proud to congratulate former Gulls catcher Nathan Flewelling on being named MVP of the All-Star Futures Game in Philadelphia.
The 19-year-old Innisfail native has had a meteoric rise in recent years. In 2023, Nate was selected to the Canadian Futures Showcase, where he won the Home Run Derby with 11 home runs. From there, he was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the third round (94th overall) of the 2024 MLB Draft.
Since then, he’s made a huge impact with the High-A Bowling Green Hot Rods. In 272 at-bats with Bowling Green, he’s hit 16 home runs, driven in 47 runs, and posted an impressive .890 OPS.
We couldn’t be prouder of Nathan and can’t wait to see what’s next in his baseball journey. Congratulations, Flew!
